EVANSTON, Ill. — Junior Joey Delgado placed sixth and junior heavyweight Cody Crawford placed seventh on Friday on the second day of the 54th annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships at Northwestern University.
The tournament’s No. 6 seed at 149 pounds, Delgado lost to Sam Speno of North Carolina State by medical forfeit in the fifth-place match. He finished the tournament with a 3-3 record.
Crawford edged Conan Jennings of Northwestern 1-0 in the seventh-place match, avenging an opening-day 5-0 loss to the Wildcat. He won 2 of 3 matches on Friday.
Junior 141-pounder Jack Hathaway fell in his first match on Friday and was eliminated from the consolation round with a 2-2 mark.
The Beavers scored 30.5 team points and finished in 21st place. Iowa won the team title, with Nebraska taking second.
Abraham Rodriguez (157) went 3-2; Kegan Calkins (125) and David Henry (hwt.) went 1-2 and Bryce Parson (157), Rodney Williams (165), Weston Dobler (174) and Bob Coleman (184) lost two consecutive matches and were eliminated on Thursday.
The Midlands concluded Oregon State's slate for the calendar year. The Beavers are idle until a Jan. 13 dual at Northern Colorado.
