Oregon State junior infielder Nick Madrigal has been named a D1Baseball.com preseason first-team All-American, the online publication announced on Tuesday.
It's his second preseason honor after a first-team selection by Collegiate Baseball in December.
Madrigal, who was a unanimous All-American in 2017 after being named the Pac-12 Conference's player and defensive player of the year, batted .380 with four home runs and 40 RBIs as a sophomore.
The Elk Grove, California, native also had 20 doubles, was 16 of 20 in stolen base attempts and drew 27 walks with just 16 strikeouts. In 109 career collegiate games and 432 at-bats, he has struck out just 30 times.
Madrigal carries a .359 career batting average into 2018, accumulating 31 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, 69 RBIs and 24 stolen bases.
