For decades, there was a constant and well-documented message to use iodized salt to avoid goiter and thyroid problems. The need for iodine is based in scientific knowledge and it is a necessary item in diet.

But now, that message is ignored. All the talk on cooking shows, TV, everything is "sea salt, sea salt." Meanwhile, sea salt has no iodine. Yet, not one word from doctors about the need for iodine in thyroid health, even as thyroid failure is epidemic among the public.

If you ask around of people you know, you will see this is true. Thyroid failure is epidemic! Also, all overweight people need to have their thyroid readings tested.

Have the medical colleges forgotten about the need for iodine in our diet? What the heck is going on?

Why is this totally ignored, when it once was heard all the time? Goiter and other thyroid illness were once minimal with use of iodized salt. Now they are coming again, in total silence from the medical community.
