The April 26 Democrat-Herald editorial cites Mayor Sharon Konopa's opinion three times regarding upcoming ballot request for 5 cents per gallon gas tax for Albany. Of course, she never mentions the Central Albany Revitalization Area (CARA), the city's urban renewal arm.
Voters: Vote no on the gas tax to send a message that CARA can help pay for the repair of our streets. CARA paid for (among other things) funky lights downtown, bulb-outs way out by Central School, 47 unusable, weird back-in parking spaces to the tune of $8.5 million of taxpayer money, so CARA can pay toward the repair of our badly damaged streets. Period!
