I suppose the legal community has a technical term for it, but out here on the street perhaps we might just call it the "O. J. Simpson stratagem" (for want of a better term).
That's when a suspect in a crime investigation or a defendant on trial — with talented legal help — manages to flip everything on its head and put the law, the legal system and all its institutions on trial instead. It's a very effective distract and deflect tactic: a neat trick and it works good when it works.
And now, all those Russian/Putin assets (Trump & Co.) that this country, in it's unbelievable gullibility, voted into our White House are now attempting this ploy on the FBI/Justice Deptartment. They're getting increasingly desperate to stop Mueller's investigation. They want the FBI to be perceived as the problem instead of "collusion." And a big chunk of the Republican political party is enthusiastically assisting them (that "memo") while another chunk (Issa, Gowdy, et al) is retiring and runnin' for the exits as fast as it can.
Perhaps one could speculate that when Trump finally gets his Russian-style oligarchy/kleptocracy fully instituted here, some Republicans will welcome it, others not so much.
