I received an email yesterday that Salam Noor had resigned. I was saddened by this because he was an advocate for children in a system that can sometimes get caught in the weeds and forget who they are there to serve. Salam did not forget.

When I opened my local paper this morning to see that the governor asked him to resign and was using him as a scapegoat for issues that could not possibly be turned around in his tenure, I was angered. As an educator in a rural school district, I did not always agree with Salam. He may have even found me a pain, but he was fair and kid-focused.

This governor has been a no-show in the area of providing leadership for education. For her to use a dedicated public servant as a scapegoat is just wrong.

Colt Gill is a fine man and I wish him well in the position, and the circumstances of his appointment should not be held against him.
