In his state of the union address, I was so happy that President Trump said it was both unfortunate and sad that the world had not yet eliminated nuclear weapons. What a wonderful opportunity to actually take the lead on that as we are the originators of the nuclear threat, the only country to have used them and top dog in number and proliferation of these weapons throughout the world (land, sea and air).
A recent lecturer at OSU proposed reducing the number of weapons but stopped short of total elimination. That would be better than our current situation, but why not go all the way? The hot fighting we are engaged in around the world does not lend itself to nuclear warfare. Use of tactical nukes against North Korea expecting them to "back off" is idiocy. Plus radiation emitted would affect innocents around the world.
Where is the leadership to get rid of these weapons before something stupid happens?
