I am disappointed (again) in the DH.
Your Tuesday headline "Ex-officer pleads guilty" (Democrat-Herald, Jan. 23) is your attempt to spin our police officers as bad people, criminal even, which further diminishes the respect they receive, ultimately making their already hard job, even harder.
With five family members and countless friends in law enforcement over the years, I find this extremely offensive.
This disgusting murderer you called an "ex-officer" was campus security, a door checker, he did not carry a firearm, he could not arrest anyone, so to use the headline grabbing tactic to insinuate that he was an officer of the law is repulsive.
The fact that his title was security officer does not justify what you did.
Shame on you for trying to portray our law enforcement officers in this way.
