I’m having trouble understanding why some football players are “taking a knee” and using the American flag to speak out against racial discrimination. You are disrespecting the men and women who risked their lives and died for all of us.

You want to protest? That is your right. However, stand up. Protest the ones who are responsible for racial discrimination. Protest places of business who refuse to hire a person of color. Protest colleges who will not allow a person of color in. Protest banks who will not give a person of color a loan. Protest apartment complexes who will not rent to a person color. Go after the sports team that will not let you play because of the color of your skin. Protest restaurants and stores who will not allow a person of color in. Protest hospitals who will not treat a person of color.

When Dr. Martin Luther King gave his "I have a Dream" speech he did not kneel down. He stood there tall and proud. He did not want anyone to be forced into taking a knee. When slavery was around a person of color was forced to kneel down.

If you want to make a difference, if you want to change things, stop and think. Kneeling before someone is a sign of submission. Why are you kneeling instead of standing up strong and proud?

I’m not sure what angers me more. The fact they are targeting the American flag or the fact they are kneeling down in submission. The very thing their own ancestors fought to put a stop to.
