I am disappointed with Jennifer Moody's report about the Nov. 20 Albany School board meeting (Democrat-Herald, Nov. 25). Several persons provided written comments asking for better math and reading scores on state mandated tests — very little of their comments were published.
Yet 25 percent of the column inches was given to one ex-teacher "defending" teachers from poor academic achievement. No one at the meeting ever blamed teachers for poor achievement. This ex-teacher verbally snarled in expression and tone while turning directly to the prior presenters with rhetoric "where were you when we needed more money?" So much for working together to improve.
The school district cost per student has doubled in 15 years and now is over $14,000 per year per student with no improvement plan.
I can only hope the snarler does not represent the cadre of teachers now employed.
