I do not know Allison McCoy, but the views that appear in her letter (Mailbag, Dec. 31) attacking John Rosemond sound very much like the constant barrage of elite liberal attacks on reason, common sense, moderation and anything conservative.
In my family, looking back three generations, as well as to my sons and grandchildren, the parenting practices have been and are very closely aligned with those encouraged by John Rosemond. My wife and I, our children and grandchildren, as well as the older family members, are all stable, well-adjusted, happy, contributing members of society. I see other families whose parenting practices are similar, and I see more happy, well-adjusted members of society. I see other families whose parenting philosophy, as dictated by “modern psychology”, is to let children do as they want without discipline or consequences, and I see very different, and not good, results.
And of course, psychological associations and boards are going to be very unhappy with Mr. Rosemond for disagreeing with the quackery that they claim is the latest and greatest new trend (like letting 5-year-olds decide their gender). Of course they will try to discredit him, and make him evil if they have to. That is the normal practice of the left.
Mr. Rosemond’s column is rightfully given a mainstream platform in the Democrat-Herald where readers can be informed, learn, and benefit from his well reasoned, results-based teachings.
