Mailbag: What about Obama’s lies?

It has been quite a week on the Opinion page.

Chip Kelly apparently had an offer he couldn’t refuse. I am disappointed he chose to leave Oregon but I certainly wouldn’t equate his decision to Lance Armstrong’s disgusting behavior in the past years. It would have been more appropriate for Mr. Lundeberg to list President Obama’s lies, hypocritical statements and arrogance to Lance Armstrong for comparison.

One of the readers wrote in questioning Obama’s supporting abortion; why should innocent unborn babies be killed? For Obama, everything in political. I wouldn’t want more babies born into the entitlement society, but why aren’t these women encouraged to give up the baby to a good family who wants to adopt and are willing to pay all the expenses for the mother and child?

I appreciate Tim Mueller’s stance on protecting our Second Amendment rights. Law-abiding citizens should be able to own whatever weapons they prefer for protection, collection or sport.

The NRA is very common sense. People shouldn’t allow their children to spend most of their time on violent video games or movies and obviously mental health issues aren’t being addressed properly.

Unfortunately there are always criminals and crazies or terrorists with whatever type of weapon they can obtain: bombs, cars, knives, guns, clubs or whatever. Perhaps many of you aren’t worried about burglars or drugged-up loons and feel police protection is only a few minutes away, but that isn’t true for everyone.

Linn County citizens should appreciate the fact that Tim Mueller is being up front and honest.

You bet! We are all on this great ship together... but only the people capable of abstract, rational thought should have input on which way we steer. To be honest, it's surprising some of these authors can figure out how to turn on their computers.

I propose that before anyone can buy a gun or get a letter to the editor published, that person must score at least 80 on an I.Q. test.
