LEBANON — Lebanon students from fourth grade through high school seniors are invited to enter the annual "If I Were Mayor" contest, with an Apple iPad Air 2 on the line.
The entry deadline is 5 p.m. April 28. Local winners will receive a $100 gift card and honorable mentions will receive a $25 gift card, all presented at the May 10 meeting of the Lebanon City Council meeting. Statewide winners receive an Apple iPad Air 2.
Students are invited to give their ideas on answering the question: "If I Were Mayor, I Would ..."
Contest rules vary by division. Fourth and fifth grade students are to answer the question by making a poster. Sixth to eighth grade students must write an essay. High school students answer the question by creating an electronic presentation (e.g. video, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.).
Mayor Paul Aziz and the Lebanon City Council will choose one winner, and one or more honorable mentions from each category. The local winners will be submitted to the Oregon Mayor's statewide competition and the winners will be announced during the Oregon Mayors Conference, to be held in Lebanon at the end of July.
