Matthew Allen Pitts, 29, was arraigned Tuesday in Linn County Circuit Court on a charge of first-degree arson.
The charges stem from a Monday morning incident in which the Sweet Home Police Department arrested Pitts for allegedly starting a fire inside a mobile home while another adult was sleeping in a bedroom, according to Chief Jeff Lynn.
The blaze occurred at the Tamarack Ridge Estates, a manufactured home park at 1530 Tamarack St., and was reported at 3:47 a.m.
Pitts was ordered held on $50,000 security, and he is to have no contact with the adult named as the victim in the case.
Joan Demarest was appointed as his attorney. His next hearing will be 8:30 a.m. Oct. 2.
