LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Fraud — 10:46 a.m. Friday, 6100 block NE Megan Street. A caller reported that out-of-country scammers had targeted his relatives and talked them out of $50,000 to $100,000. The case is under investigation. The con artist allegedly targeted the residents, contacting them by telephone and telling them they had won a large sum of money, but had to pay taxes to get it released. The residents provided the scammer with numbers for gift cards to pay the “taxes.”
Stolen bicycles — 3:15 p.m. Sunday, 32900 block Diamond Hill Drive. A caller reported that two mountain bikes were stolen from the location. The total loss value was approximately $3,000.

Downed tree crash — 12:38 a.m. Sunday, Highway 226 milepost 1.5. Due to extreme weather conditions, a tree fell across the eastbound lane of travel. A Jeep vehicle driven by Angela Louise Becker, 42, of Scio, crashed into the tree. She was transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital with complaints of pain.
Scam — 2:38 p.m. Friday, 800 block S. Main Street. A man said his elderly mother deposited $13,000 into another account and was the victim of a scam. A report was taken.
Stolen car — 7:40 a.m. Saturday, 200 block Violet Street. A blue 1992 Toyota Tercel was reported stolen. The vehicle was last seen sometime during the night.
Stolen car — 12:46 p.m. Sunday, 2000 block South Second Street. A 1988 tan Honda Accord four-door was reported stolen.
