Rape indictment — From Wednesday morning. Shawn Lee Hooper of Scio was indicted on five counts of first-degree rape. The crimes were initially reported in March 2016, and authorities arrested Hooper, then 37. Authorities have previously said that an adolescent girl was the victim of the crimes.

Failure to appear — Joshua Lee Aikman, 38, of Salem, was charged with two counts of felony first-degree failure to appear. The crimes allegedly occurred on Oct. 18 and Feb. 2. Aikman also was charged with a probation violation on Wednesday.

Burglary — Terry Kim Nickell, 55, of Albany, was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree theft. The crimes allegedly took place in the 1500 block of Thurston Street Southeast in Albany on Jan. 14. Judge Thomas McHill set his security at $25,000.

Vehicle theft — David Thomas Ramsdell, 31, of Lebanon, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The crime allegedly occurred on Jan. 16. His security was set at $5,000.
