LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Good Samaritan — About 11:49 a.m. Thursday, a good Samaritan stopped near the junction of Columbus Street and Highway 34 to assist another driver with vehicle trouble. Both were then pinned between their vehicles when a third vehicle struck them from behind. The good Samaritan was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. No citations were issued.
Juvenile escape — A juvenile in custody at the Linn County Circuit Court attempted to escape about 1:25 p.m. Thursday. The juvenile was transported to Oak Creek.
Scam — About 1:45 p.m. Friday, an Albany resident notified the police department that she'd received a scam letter and a “check” for $983. She said the scam is made to look like a Secret Shopper contest and she was advised to send a Walmart Moneygram to an email address in Georgia to claim her funds.

Meth-dealing — From Friday afternoon: Rodney Dean Gilliland of Albany, was charged with delivery of methamphetamine and delivery of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school in two separate cases. The crimes allegedly occurred on Jan. 16 and on Thursday. The Albany Police Department was the arresting agency in each case.
