Michael Thomas, 67, of Albany passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. Michael went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family and friends.
Michael was born to Bond and Carol (Schmidt) Thomas in Lebanon. He attended elementary and middle school at Oak Grove. He graduated from Albany Union High School in 1964. Shortly after that, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
Mike coached girls softball and boys basketball through the Albany Boys and Girls Club for several years. He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, reading and gardening, and was a die hard Beaver and Yankee fan.
Michael is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter Jessica; grandchildren Kyra, Kenyon and Trey Michael; brother John Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael will always be remembered for his faith, hope and never ending love for his savior, Jesus Christ.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the First Assembly of God Church. Everyone is encouraged to attend wearing bright and cheerful colors, in recognition that it is indeed a celebration.
