Merlin E. Aplet, 83, of Lebanon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2017.
He was born January 22, 1934 in Stayton to Lloyd and Frances (Dennis) Aplet.
Merlin lived in Stayton, West Fir and Lebanon before moving to Oregon City where he attended high school.
He married LaVerne Badger on June 28, 1952 in Oregon City.
They moved to Seattle where Merlin worked for Boeing and later moved to Lebanon where he has lived since. He worked at Willamette Industries for many years until retiring in 1998.
Merlin’s wife LaVerne passed away on August 8, 2012.
He later married Evelyn Atkins in April of 2015, she preceded him in death on August 12th of this year.
He was known as a clock builder and handy-man and enjoyed fishing and crabbing.
Merlin was member of New Beginnings Fellowship in Lebanon. He loved God and was a follower of Jesus.
He is survived by his children Jerald Aplet, Darlene Parks, Daniel Aplet, and Pamela Ashworth all of Lebanon and Julie Payton of McMinnville; sisters LeeAnne Aplet of Lebanon, Patricia Elliot of Lebanon, Betty Jo Aplet of Portland, and Evadee Whitt of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Merlin was preceded in death by his wife LaVerne; wife Evelyn; brother Everett Aplet; and his parents Lloyd and Frances Aplet.
Viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 at Huston-Jost-Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 15 at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Lebanon First Assembly of God.
