Nov. 27, 1945 — June 24, 2011

Dennis “Pops” Lindseth, 65, of Lebanon passed away Friday at his home.

Dennis was born in Astoria the son of Pete and Anna (Prytz) Lindseth. He grew up in Eureka, Calif., where he attended his schooling. He moved to Washington in 1972 and to Lebanon in 2000.

Dennis married Bernice E. Denton in Eureka, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1969.

He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who never let his blindness get in the way of living his life. Whether it was operating a successful business, rebuilding an engine, remodeling a house — which included every part of construction: concrete, framing, electrical, plumbing and finishing — he always operated his own tools. All along the way he was teaching his sons how to “see” without using their eyes.

He took pride in showing his family the strength and perseverance to never quit just because you can’t see the simple solution. He had a sense of justice that was second-to-none. Everyone was the same in his eyes. Just don’t pass judgment on someone because of their limitations. Fair was fair no matter who you were. He was a man who enjoyed a good laugh. Always a prankster, you never knew when you were going to be on the receiving end of a joke. Next to laughing, camping and fishing gave him great enjoyment. It didn’t matter whether he was catching fish or not as long as he was doing it with his family. Being on the water was a source of peace for him. His strength, loyalty, love and dedication to his family will be his legacy. He will be missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bernice of Lebanon; sons Sean Paul Lindseth of Centralia, Wash., and Shane David Lindseth of Albany; four sisters, Loretta Johansen of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Jean Andrews, Peggy Parsons and Susan Gauthier, all of Eureka, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Camie, Mavrick and Gavin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Carol Amundsen.

No services are planned. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, P.O. Box 151200, San Rafael, CA 94901-1200.
