March 6, 1926 — January 31, 2018

Charles “Dick” Nale, 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Evergreen Samaritan Hospice House in Albany.

He was born on March 6, 1926, to Aber Nale and Mabel Stow at PeeDee, Oregon. The family then moved to Chiloquin, Oregon, where he attended school.

He married Inez Pearl Baum on February 10, 1947, in Reno, Nevada, while on vacation.

Charles joined the Navy on August 15, 1944. He attended boot camp at Farragut Naval Training Station at Farragut, Idaho. He was stationed at Spokane, Washington, Bremerton, Washington; Klamath Falls, Oregon; and Corvallis. Charles learned how to cook while in the Navy and taught his fellow comrades how to swim. He received an honorable discharged from the Navy on April 18, 1946.

Charles was hired by the City of Corvallis for 27 years where he was a maintenance and heavy equipment operator, and helped clear the land for Meadow Park Mobile Home Development where he eventually made his home. He retired from the city in March of 1988.

Charles was known as an honest, kind and loving man who enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, movies, hunting and bow hunting, and any activities with his family. He was an avid bowler. He had a love for animals, especially dogs, and had many over the years.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Nale; parents, Aber and Mabel Nale; and sisters Edna McQuisten and Evelyn Twist.

Charles is survived by a niece, Laurie Boyce and family of Aurora, Oregon; and nephew, Charles Hoffman and family of Pendleton, Oregon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A public viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018, at McHenry's Funeral Home in Corvallis. There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at McHenry Funeral Home. Following the funeral service there will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Twin Oaks Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Craig Johnson will be officiating both services.
