Carolyn Sue Kirk, 69, died Saturday at her home in Albany.

The daughter of Norman and Joyce (Roath) Rossback, Carolyn was born in Vancouver, Wash., and grew up in several small towns throughout Oregon including Pumpkin Ridge, Dilley and Crabtree. She graduated from Central Linn High School in 1960, and earned her bachelor’s of science degree from Linfield College in 1990.

Carolyn married Carroll Kirk in 1960 with whom she had two children, Allen and Lisa. They lived in Shedd. They later divorced and she was remarried to Joe Barton from 1989 until the time of her death.

Carolyn was employed at Oremet in various positions where she worked for 30 years. She retired in 1993 from a management position in purchasing. Since retirement, Carolyn and Joe have split their time between Albany and Haines, Alaska. She enjoyed backpacking, hiking, traveling, skiing and snow-shoeing, reading, antique collecting, exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. She also enjoyed do-it-yourself and remodeling projects. She particularly liked OSU sports.

Surviving are her husband, Joe Barton of Albany; son Allen Kirk and daughter Lisa Vander Stelt, both of Shedd; brothers Allen Rossback of Jefferson, and Marlin, Jon, Stephen and Randy Rossback of Coos Bay; sisters Marilyn Gindhart and Maridee Delaney of Eugene, Maureen Hutcheson of Medford, Janice Arnot of North Bend, Judy Ray of Sutherlin, and Roxy Timothy of Coos Bay; and three grandchildren, Jenna, Jordan and Jacob Bucher.

Carolyn was preceded in death by both her parents; brother Norman Rossback; nephew Mike Hutcheson; and stepdaughter Pam (Barton) Stutzman.

A viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Fisher Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Willamette Memorial Park.
