A man surrendered shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday after a standoff lasting more than three hours around a house in the 4000 block of Linn Avenue in Albany.

Officers with the Albany Police Department and Linn Interagency Narcotics Enforcement team, with the help of SWAT team members, had secured the area after Rudy Rodriguez, a suspect known to police, barricaded himself inside the residence following a pursuit.

Recently released from prison, Rodriguez was wanted on a parole violation and alleged drug-related incidents.

Police surrounded the house after neighbors said Rodriguez entered the home with two women. The women later exited the home after police convinced them to do so. Rodriguez did not live at the home.

Rodriguez stayed inside, prompting police to surround the house, eventually calling in the Linn County Regional SWAT team and positioning snipers on nearby roofs.

After more than an hour's worth of hailing Rodriguez to try and convince him to surrender, the suspect finally gave up as SWAT members prepared to move in.

Rodriguez was arrested for the parole violations and charged with burglary.
