Burglary — 1 p.m. Tuesday, 2550 Orchard Heights Ave NW. A caller, speaking on behalf of a couple, reported that their home had been broken into, likely between Oct. 27 and 31, while they were out of town. It is not known whether any items were taken.

Strangulation arrest — Tuesday evening, 918 21st Avenue. Jose Ramon Vidales. 63, was arrested for allegedly fighting with his adult daughter. She alleged he struck her in the face. Ultimately, he was arrested for strangulation.

LINN COUNTY COURTHOUSE

Sex abuse charges — 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, Linn County Circuit Court. Joshua James Hutchins, 37, was arraigned on five counts of third-degree sex abuse. The charges stem from alleged incidents between March and September, when Hutchins is accused of sexual activity with a victim under the age of 18. The charges are misdemeanors, and because Hutchins has no criminal history, Judge Carol Bispham ordered security set at only $5,000. His next hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20.
