People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.

Albany Police

Uninvited guest — A homeowner wrestled an intruder to the ground about 10:20 a.m. Sunday after discovering him inside the house when the family returned after being gone for the weekend. The intruder, Marshall Andrew McCoy, 25, of Albany used to live at the address but had been evicted. McCoy knew the family would be gone so told police he decided to stay there.

Police charged him with first-degree burglary and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged at the Linn County Jail and expected to appear in Linn County Circuit Court today.

House paintballed — A caller heard popping noises about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of 39th Avenue S.E. In the morning, the caller discovered that her house had been paintballed in four places.

Girlie pictures — A white, adult male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt dropped two photographs of naked women in front of 14- and 16-year-old girls about 5 p.m. Sunday when they were walking in the 1300 block of Lafayette Street S.E. The girls told police the man looked at them and smiled when they saw the photographs. Police were unable to locate the man, who was described as about 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

Shooting cans — Police found a boy in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue S.E. shooting cans with a pellet gun about 8:50 p.m. Saturday. The pellets were bouncing off of the asphalt and flying into a nearby home.

Police told the boy to stop his shooting and he did. No injuries were reported.

Linn County Sheriff

Hearing voices — A husband and his wife hid in a closet in their home in the 30000 block of Townsend Road about 5:35 a.m. this morning after hearing voices in their house and seeing shadows of people walking around outside.

Deputies checked the area and saw no evidence of anyone outside or having been outside and determined that the voices the couple were hearing was the heater kicking on.

Similar incidents have been reported by the couple in the past.

Sweet Home Police

Underage drinkers — Police arrested two men Saturday evening in connection with hosting a loud party and providing alcohol to minors in the 900 block of Elm Street.

Cody Michael Cowdrey, 23, was cited on eight counts of providing liquor to minors and nine counts of allowing consumption and violating a city ordinance. He was booked and released.

Jared Patrick Manning, 20, was charged with eight counts of providing liquor to a minor and for being a minor in possession. He was booked and released.
