Gas leak — 9:40 a.m. Monday, intersection of Mary and North Main streets. Lebanon fire personnel evacuated a block of Mary Street as a precaution after a contractor working on water lines accidentally cut into a residential feeder for a gas line. Battalion Chief Ron Sipe said the contractor had mapped out line locations but the line depths vary in older neighborhoods and this line was shallow enough to catch the edge of the blade. Sipe said nothing sparked and no one was injured, but the area was evacuated for about an hour so the gas company could come to crimp the line.

Arrest — 8:43 p.m. Monday, 37600 block of Kathleen Court. Deputies responded to a call about a man who reportedly pulled out a gun during a confrontation about speeding and fired a round in the air before retreating to his vehicle. Robert Grant Hodson, 23, was charged with menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and carrying a concealed firearm. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
