NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts was cited for speeding in Lebanon at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Fouts, 62, was going 40 in a 25 mph zone when he was pulled over at West Airport Road near Airway Road, according to Lebanon Police Department logs.

Little information about the incident was available on Friday, including what type of vehicle Fouts was driving.

There also was no word on whether he was passing.

Fouts is one of the most prolific passers in NFL history.

He starred in college for the Oregon Ducks and played for 15 seasons with the San Diego Chargers.

The longtime resident of the Sisters area currently is a sports analyst for CBS.

Why is this news? How many other people were cited for speeding in Lebanon on the same day? Why didn't they make the headlines?

Probably because he's a hall of fame quarterback and basically a state of Oregon icon?

I don't think story is any reason for anyone to get on their soapbox, either way.

"Hey, did you hear Dan Fouts got a speeding ticket here in town?"
"Oh that's cool, I wonder what he was doing here."
Etc.

I don't think we need to get out the libertarian rhetoric because of it.

Probably because he was an NFL QB. DUH.....

Mr. Davis -- Dan Fouts is a public personality, and as such, we do treat him a bit differently, much like we would treat a U.S. senator differently if they were cited for speeding. Quite simply, every Oregonian should have some idea of who Fouts is, not just football fans.

I understand that Dan is a "public personality." This was a speeding ticket, not a murder charge. To publish his picture and speeding charge is asinine. If Mr. Fouts. commits murder or mansluaghter, please let me know. Otherwise, please treat him like any other citizen.

Why not post it? Its probably the most exciting thing to hapoen in Lebanon since they opened the new Wal Mart. I think every year all the people of Lebanon should celebrate Dan Fout speeding day. How about Lebanon throws a parade for it and serves strawberry shortcake at the end.

Kyle Odegard, it is not new, it is plain stupidity who cares. Maybe the Democrat Herald needs to take a lesson on what is news worthy! This is not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
