Downtown Albany will celebrate its annual Crazy Daze on Friday and Saturday, July 8-9.

The longest running downtown event in Albany, Crazy Daze was originally called Bargain Days and its origins date to 1908.

Sidewalk sales, restaurant specials, street vendors and a Crazy Daze garage sale will all be part of this year’s event.

In addition, on Friday, the Albany Downtown Association will play the movie “The Time Machine” behind Cappies Brewhouse, 211 First Ave. W.

The film will kick off the association’s Movies By Moonlight program and will begin at approximately 9 p.m. It is the first of seven classics that will be shown throughout the summer. Those attending are encouraged to bring chairs to set up in the parking lot. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Quality used goods will highlight Saturday’s garage sale, and there will also be numerous street vendors.

Live music and children’s activities including face painting, sidewalk chalk art, games and other activities will take place throughout the day on Saturday. Vendors and the children’s play area will be on Broadalbin Street between First and Fourth avenues.

The LBCC theater group La Commedia will present “Fools for Love” with five showings scheduled throughout the day Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Second and Broadalbin. Local musicians will entertain between performances.
