The Linn Genealogical Society will host a fall beginning genealogy workshop from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 and 7, at the Albany Public Library, 2450 14th Ave. S.E.
Classes on Friday will be Introduction to Genealogy, Genealogical Forms and The Research Process. Classes on Saturday will be A Research Check List; Funerals, Cemeteries and Death Certificates; and Wrap-up and Feedback.
A big concern with genealogy, according to organizers, is the number of people who simply copy family trees off Internet sites without fact-checking the information. This leads to a proliferation of incorrect family information that other users copy and perpetuate. The workshop is meant to help researchers document their work correctly.
Cost is a $10 donation per day. For more information call Betty Thorn at (541) 926-4353 or Maureen Rhea at (541) 752-1725.
