Lebanon and Albany school boards were honored with “outstanding achievement” awards this past Saturday at the annual convention of the Oregon School Boards Association.
In addition, Diane Gerson, a former member of the Sweet Home School Board, received an individual award for taking advantage of multiple training opportunities through OSBA.
Gerson received a bronze award for individually earning 100 points during the 2008-09 school year.
OSBA awards points for taking courses and workshops offered through the association, including seminars on leadership, ethics, roles and responsibilities, public meetings/public records law, collective bargaining, and related topics.
Lebanon received what is known as a “first year” award, for earning a total 500 points through the collective efforts of the five board members.
Boards are eligible for successive awards by earning additional points in consecutive years.
Albany received a “fourth tier” award this year for earning a collective 200 points each year after its first 500.
