An Albany man was accused in Linn County Circuit Court on Monday of assaulting a baby in his care.
Tadyn Allen Drake Bentley, 20, was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal mistreatment.
Prosecutor Richard Wijers said the victim was five months old.
Judge DeAnn Novotny set Bentley’s bail at $50,000 — the minimum amount of security for such an offense.
First-degree assault is a Measure 11 crime that carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of seven years and six months in prison.
Tyler Reid was appointed as Bentley’s defense attorney.
Oregon’s online court database indicates that the Sweet Home Police Department was the agency that investigated the alleged assault. The Albany Police Department arrested Bentley at his residence on Friday.
