Corvallis author Pat Wray will have a reading and discussion of his new novel, "Gift of the Grenadier," 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the main meeting room at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave.

The novel follows Jared McCauley, a man whose self-confidence is shaken after he suffers a war injury. Years later, in a rage, he accidentally kills a young boy — but when the boy turns out to be connected to the mob, revenge-fueled violence stretches across the country.

Wray is a freelance writer and author of two previous books, "A Chukar Hunter’s Companion" and "Corvallis Reflections." "Gift of the Grenadier" is his first novel.

A former Marine helicopter pilot and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife information supervisor, Wray has written articles and columns for dozens of magazines as well as for the Corvallis Gazette-Times since 1984. He has received national awards for his writing.

The event is free. For more information, call the library at 541-766-6793.
