The Arts Center, 700 SW Madison Ave., Corvallis, is sponsoring a community arts project on Saturday afternoon to help call attention to the issue of gun violence in the United States.

The Soul Box Project will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with the Women's Rally in Central Park.

The purpose of the Soul Box Project is to visually depict  the ever-growing number of gun-related deaths and injuries in the United States. A Soul Box is created from origami paper; each one represents one life, one soul gunned down.

In the tradition of other national art projects like the AIDS Memorial Quilt, the eventual goal is to display tens of thousands of Soul Boxes together.

For more information on this event at The Arts Center, contact Pat Berman, pat.berman@gmail.com or see https://soulboxproject.org.
