Art patrons will get to enjoy local works on a small scale through February at Gallery Calapooia, at 222 W 1st Ave. in Albany.

The Big Show of Little Art celebrates the art of the Albany community and surrounding area. The nonjuried exhibition will feature 175 pieces from 114 artists. To meet the “small" criteria, all the pieces measure 8-by-8 inches or less.

Gallery member and artist Nancy Anderson said a range of media is represented in the show. There are sculptures, which as 3D pieces will add an 8-inch depth limitation. The show also features fiber art, watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings, as well as calligraphy.

Inspired by the 8-by-8 shows in Brownsville, this inaugural small art show will feature artists from Adair Village, Albany, Brownsville, Corvallis, Crawfordsville, Halsey, Jefferson, Lebanon, Philomath and Tangent, as well as Dayton, Eugene, Pacific City, Portland and Salem.

The work will be on display Jan. 30 to Feb. 24. An artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, will include the artwork of the 18 member artists of Gallery Calapooia as well as The Big Show of Little Art. Cookies and punch will be served.

Gallery Calapooia is located at 222 First Ave. W. in downtown Albany. For more information, call 541-971-5701.
