SILVERTON — Seven mid-valley wrestlers topped the podium at the Mid-Willamette Conference championships.
The two-day, eight-team tournament began Friday and wrapped up Saturday night at Silverton High. The top four placers in each weight class qualfy for next week’s 5A state championships at Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
Crescent Valley High teammates Chance Lamer (106 pounds), Drew Roberts (113) and Legend Lamer (138) all captured district titles.
South Albany had a pair of champions in Chandler Villarreal (152) and Angel Huerta (220). Lebanon also had two gold medal winners: Joseph Blisseck (170) and Keith Brown (195).
Dallas finished with 461 points to run away with the team title. Lebanon (273) was second, followed by Woodburn (224), South (221) and CV (218.5). Corvallis placed seventh with 126.5 points.
Lebanon’s Landon Kisling (160) and Chase Miller (145) took second, as did CV’s Brandon Lareau (285) and Corvallis’ Porter Johnson (182).
SWEET HOME — Host Sweet Home cruised to the Special District 2 championships title, finishing the two-day, 12-school tournament with 386.5 team points. Cascade was second at 241 while Philomath took sixth at 126.

Fourteen Sweet Home wrestlers made it through to state, including district champions Connor Ford (113), Bryce Porter (120), Boe Baxter (152), Hayden McDonald (160) and Nich James (170). Teammates Robert Watkins (113), Jackson Royer (126), Travis Thorpe (138), Ricky Yunke (145) and Bryce Coulter (195) were all runners-up.
Philomath senior James Howell placed second at 160, dropping a 5-2 decision to Baxter in the finals.
