Oregon State junior middle infielders Nick Madrigal and Cadyn Grenier have been recognized as preseason All-Americans by Baseball America, the publication announced on Monday.
Madrigal has been tabbed as the first-team second baseman while Grenier has been selected as the second-team shortstop.
Madrigal is coming off a season where he batted .380 with 22 doubles, four home runs, 40 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. He finished the 2017 season as a unanimous All-American, was named the Pac-12 Conference’s player and defensive player of the year and also earned the program’s first-ever collegiate Golden Glove Award.
The preseason selection marks the third leading up to 2018 for Madrigal, who was recognized earlier by Collegiate Baseball and D1Baseball.com.
Grenier batted .275 last season while collecting five doubles, six triples, five home runs, 37 RBIs and six stolen bases. He was named to the all-Pac-12 first team.
Game time change for UCLA finale
Oregon State’s regular-season finale, May 26 against UCLA, has been picked up to air on ESPNU with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
The game at Goss Stadium had originally been scheduled for Pac-12 Networks, and the move to ESPNU will keep the Beavers at 22 televised games during the regular season, the most for any team in the Pac-12.
In another time change, the Beavers’ May 12 home matchup with Stanford has been slated for a 2 p.m. start.
