Utah pregame

It's a cold night for Oregon State's Pac-12 football game against Utah. The Blackout looks like it will come close to happening from looking at the fans.

There's an odd feel to Corvallis and the tailgate areas. There's a vibe that's missing. My 10-year-old even noticed it downtown early and said it feels dead.

Co-worker Kevin Hampton says the 7:30 p.m. start sucks the life out of people having to wait around for the game. The buildup is just too long.

We'll see if the players are affected.

Representatives from the San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants are in the press box. However, there are no bowl game officials.

A win tonight gives the Beavers their sixth win and bowl eligibility for the first time since 2009.
