I'm pretty sure I've had it.
I've been churning out these extraordinarily balanced, well-researched, and carefully crafted pieces, engineered to not offend anyone, for more than a year now, but it's just not that much fun anymore.
And I can point to the moment that killed it for me. It was when I read that our new president tweeted (tweeted) that the last president tapped his phone. And this came on the heels of the line from his address to congress, "The time for trivial fights is behind us."
Clearly, but not surprisingly, that well-written line, crafted by somebody else but delivered carefully by Donald The Magician Trump, held no hold in reality. Of course it came before revelations that Jeff Sessions elected not to tell anyone he'd been speaking with The Russians, so the idea that he sent an early Saturday morning tweet (tweet) that somehow a lot of us decided to pay attention to, seems be be on par with the magic that is the Trump administration.
At this point, I have the opportunity to wade into the absurd carnival that hammers us daily but somehow never grabs any traction, but I just have no more respect for the entire enterprise. So if I ever do write anything here, it will likely be about all the things that really do matter and really do make sense. These are the honest things, like micro farming on our land, putting in a miniature vineyard, cooking with my family and watching the kids run around in the yard.
Yes. I have no more room for The Magician and his relentless pursuit of dysfunction and dishonesty. He's all yours. I've got a BCS tiller, some cold beer, and some good sunny days ahead.
